Optimizing titles for Amazon search

Compress Amazon titles to 50 characters without losing ranking weight.

How Amazon reads a title

Amazon's A9 algorithm assigns weight to each token in the title. The tokens that appear first carry the most weight, the tokens near the end carry less, and the brand name is essentially free ranking-wise. Knowing this, the right order is: primary keyword phrase, secondary keyword, differentiating features, brand name, and the product type as a closing anchor.

Do not waste characters on filler phrases. 'Premium quality' adds zero ranking weight and burns eight characters that could carry a real keyword. Trim and re-trim until every character earns its place.

Briefing the title generator for Amazon

Set the platform to 'Amazon US' (or your target marketplace). Provide the product name in the form buyers would search. Provide 3-5 high-intent keyword phrases. Provide a differentiator in 2-3 words. Provide the brand name. Leave the tone blank or set it to 'concise'.

Generate and review the 10 title variants. The recommended main title balances search visibility with human readability. Test the top 2-3 variants across 2-4 weeks and watch the search rank change in your Amazon Brand Analytics dashboard.

Iterating on Amazon titles

Amazon titles are not a one-shot deliverable. Update the title every 60-90 days based on search term reports and conversion data. The keywords that bring impressions in the first month are not always the ones that convert in the third month. Use the keyword extractor's clusters to keep your title aligned with what buyers are actually searching for.

Document every title change: original, candidate, date, and a one-line reason. After a few cycles you will have a personal playbook of which patterns work on your specific category. The playbook is the asset; the AI is just the drafting tool.
